Little Plate, Big Meal

I want another one just looking at this!

I think there were 4 avocados in that there guacamole

Every Thursday my husband and I go on a date. Tonight we visited Lola Gaspar. My brother had told us we had to try it. He said he had a nightmare- that he never ate there again. (Our family has a little flair for the dramatic) So when I saw they had specials from 3-6 pm every day I was all about it!

What is it about happy hour pricing that is so thrilling? Sometimes the way I rush us to save that extra $3 is ridiculous. But somehow the food tastes better when you aren't paying full price. Doesn't matter what the rush was to get there, it's worth it!

So my husband and I went straight from work to dinner. Freshening up is over rated! And this time...we were NOT disappointed. We ended up ordering one of each appetizer and not being able to finish them all! My only disappointment was that I couldn't fit an entree in my stomach too.

Great night, great place. Didn't mean for this to turn in to a restaurant review, but look at those food pictures again and I think you will understand!!

Basketball in the Blood

Group pictures are alway a must!

My grandpa was the first player in NBA history to score 2,000 points in a season. Because of this we grew up going to Basketball games. None of us got the talent but most of us got the love. So in honor of the 55th anniversary of grandpa George setting a record...we went to a game. Clippers vs. Pistons. Had dinner with other friends going to the game and got coffee AND a cookie delivered to our seat. What a night!

SB Weekend

Beautiful State Street
His and her coffee
Gosh, he's handsome.
This weekend we had the amazing opportunity of a weekend in Santa Barbara. My sister lived in this area for a few months and I have so many fun memories of past times here. So the chance to take my husband and go away for a night was so amaaaazing!

A friend blessed us with a beautiful hotel right on State Street. We ate at the cutest shabby chic-est restaurant on Saturday night. (Clearly my husband's choice) And Sunday we were able to enjoy coffees as we walked around and checked out the area.

There is something oh-so wonderful about a weekend getaway. There is the excitement of it on the front and back end. And the lingering feeling of refreshment when it is over. New places to eat, coffee, and hang out time with my husband. Oh snap, I'm in heaven.

Date Night

Perfecting the Mr. Tough Guy look

Every Thursday we try to go on a date...and every Thursday we find overly crowded restaurants and long lines of people wanting to do the same! What is it with the overpopulated restaurants around here??

Tonight we set off to one location only to find ourselves with the usual dilemma. Too many hungry people! As we drove along the road we happened upon Umami Burger. The legendary. The place I have been wanting to try forever. The place I have heard so many fabulous reviews on!

You know how expectations are everything in life? Well mine may have been a tad too high tonight. Because when they brought me the legendary truffle burger that should have changed my life...it had absolutely no effect on me. Zero. I bit in waiting for that moment of food delight...and found myself sadly lacking. But still altogether pleased that we had came, seen, and conquered. Better luck to us next time!

Pretty In Pink

For the first time in my life I have received real, live peonies...and I am tickled pink. (Get it?) Every day I love staring at them as they unfurl their amazing insides to the world. To me they are the most exquisite flowers. Wonderful birthday surprise from my sweet husband.

"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8
(Hoping these ones don't fade too soon)

LA Day

How amazing are these mini orchids?

Nothing better than a bacon wrapped hotdog cooked outside a little truck- for real though
My husband loves to shop- I got a good one!

Sporting his $1sunglasses

Last Saturday we decided to venture into Los Angeles. We browsed the flower district, looked at some fabric, and did a little shopping. My little sister is getting married in June so there are always wedding details we are looking out for. I love helping with events and my husband can make just about anything so we are a good team. I was introduced to this area and it's wonderfully low prices when planning for my wedding last year.

Next stop- Griffith Observatory for a beautiful view of Los Angeles and the oh so popular Hollywood sign...watch out, world! It is a beautiful area to hike around and hang out. On our way back to the car we ran into a ferocious wolf...which we later found out was a harmless fox. (I like the wolf story better) After stopping for Chinese food we made it safely home.

Good day, LA!

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

Box built by my talented husband <3
Sees Candy (calories don't count on holidays)
Buy one, get one free. Why thank you, Valentines Day!
Homemade cards are my favorite!

Holidays are my favorite. There is something wonderful about waking up and knowing it is a special day. One that is set aside around the world to celebrate something special- in this case LOVE. I have always had a special place in my heart for Valentine's Day. Even when there wasn't a man in my life to celebrate it with. The idea of eating chocolate, getting (or giving flowers), and telling people you love them is a win-win kind of day in my mind. Let me tell you, I L-O-V-E my husband but on Valentine's I was thinking of another love as well. The God that so loved us and sent His son. Now this is love.

Beloved, let us love one another for love is of God. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
- I John 4:7,9
